Using clay from marshy areas in Central Uganda, artisans use traditional methods of refining the raw clay, shaping each piece by hand, smoothing with a stone, and firing by kiln. The clay beads are partially burnt to bring a swirl of darker tones, and finished with varnish. The clay beads are contrasted with black diffusing lava rock beads.
